Driving Schools Under the Scanner

The ongoing crackdown by the Transport Department on vehicle documentation violations extended for the first time in the history of the department to training cars used by driving schools.

During a drive targeting cars used by such driving schools, around 20 cars were seized as they were not following regulations laid out in the Central Motor Vehicles act. These rules make it mandatory for such schools to have several precautions in the vehicle like dual controls, spare parts, a route plan chart and other necessary conditions. “The vehicles were seized for imparting training in contravention of the rules,” a senior official said.

The seized vehicles have been kept at a BMTC depot in Jayanagar.
