Stricter tests force driving schools to shift gears for training

The Regional Transport Office's decision to introduce tougher and CCTV-camera based tests for a permanent car driving licence has compelled city-based motor driving schools to scale up their training modules.

The schools are now extending practice sessions by adding more hours besides extensive in-house sessions for candidate to explain the basics. They are also putting more thrust on conducting dedicated practice sessions on a gradient wherein the failure rate has been the maximum.

Aspirants of permanent car driving licences are finding it tough to pass the driving test as they are now expected to drive on three different tracks. The first track is shaped like an eight, the second is H-shaped and the third track is a gradient. The Pune RTO is the first in the state to introduce these tracks for licence tests.
